On May 17, 2024, Conservation Kids hosted an event to commemorate World Endangered Species Day. This initiative aimed to raise awareness among schoolchildren about endangered species and inspire proactive measures to protect our planet’s biodiversity.
WRSA is supportive and closely involved with mentorship, education, guidance, and sponsorships as we are passionate about educating our youth about the responsibility of conserving the environment. They play a key role in the future of our natural heritage.
Educational Activities and Engagement
The day was filled with interactive and educational activities. Students were asked questions about endangered species and relevant laws, allowing them to showcase their knowledge and learn more about conservation efforts. Platinum Village Primary School contributed to the event by presenting a drama focused on the critical issue of rhino poaching, highlighting the threats faced by these majestic creatures and the need for urgent action.
Creative Presentations
Each participating school was tasked with creating animal models using recycled plastic materials, promoting the idea of sustainability and creativity in addressing environmental issues. These models were displayed during the event, showcasing the students’ ingenuity and commitment to conservation.
Prizes and Participation
To foster engagement, students who participated actively were rewarded with prizes such as puzzles, bottles, and caps. This approach not only motivated the children but also made the learning experience enjoyable and memorable.
Culmination with Lunch
The event concluded with a lunch generously sponsored by Debonairs Pizza, providing a perfect end to an educational and inspiring day.
